Why Administrate Publishes A Product Roadmap

Shortly after announcing it at the annual LITE conference in September, the product team at Administrate has begun to publish our product roadmap for the world to see. Public roadmaps are still rare in the software industry because change happens so quickly, and part of being an agile company is having a product roadmap that can change just as fast. Because of this, many software companies are nervous to publish a roadmap that may change or that could be misconstrued by customers, and there is some basis for such a concern. So why do we at Administrate publish our roadmap? The answer is that decision making at Administrate is driven by our values.
The product roadmap exemplifies three of Administrate’s values: Transparency, Reliability, and Always Improving.
The roadmap is designed to communicate to our customers and readers the direction of where the product is headed. We are very clear and open about our strategy and plans. For training providers looking for a software partner to help drive their training programmes forward for years into the future, it is important to know that the partner they choose is headed in the same direction they are. More than the individual features, the themes in the roadmap demonstrate where we are putting our resources over time and how our strategy is being reflected in our plans.

The beauty of a public roadmap is that customers question it. These questions help to shape our direction, and hone the improvements being designed such that they have the most possible value for our customers when they are released.
